Abstract: Validation is accepted as an essential stage in system dynamics (SD) modelling. It is challenging, often difficult, but necessary for any system modelling. Conceptual model development is believed to have great impact on validation of SD models. In this research, we used a multi-methodology approach to present a framework to support the conceptual model development and structural validation in SD modelling. Our aim was to overcome the difficulty in SD model validation. In the proposed framework, we integrated methods from SD methodology with methods from Analytic Network Process (ANP). Furthermore, the proposed framework is applied to a healthcare system case study. As a part of healthcare organizations, clinical laboratories (CLs) have a great role in healthcare systems. This paper presents an enriched and validated conceptual model for CL performance system which can be useful for healthcare decision makers. Also, proposed multi-methodology framework can be applied to any complex systems to validate their conceptual models.
